Since 2019, in order to promote the scale, standardization, and development of the color gemstone industry, China and Thailand have been exploring the establishment of a reference price system for color gemstones between China and Thailand, based on the principles of "consultation, joint construction, sharing, and win-win" and the Chinese national standards of "Ruby Classification" (GB/T 32863), "Sapphire Classification" (GB/T 32862), and "Emerald Classification" (GB/T 34545). Under the guidance of this cooperation, the "Guidelines" were officially released in June 2023 in Shanghai, China. This measure not only serves as a model for international cooperation in the standardization of colored gemstones, but also achieves an innovative breakthrough in the reference price system of colored gemstones from zero to one, and will better lead the high-quality and sustainable development of the global colored gemstone industry.
On the basis of extensively soliciting opinions and suggestions from industry representatives from China and Thailand, the "Guide" has been prepared through repeated consultations and collaboration among four units: China Treasure Association, National Jewelry Inspection, Thailand Jewelry Trade Association (TGJTA), and Thailand Jewelry Precious Metals Alliance (GJPCT). The data accurately reflects the market situation and has strong reference value.
