Excelsior Diamond means "high ambition" or "nobility", also known as noble diamond. Axaxiu Diamond was discovered on June 30, 1898. It is the second largest raw stone of the world's diamond, weighing 995.2 carats. It is produced in the Yaltan Mine in South Africa and has now been divided.
Before the discovery of Coulinan diamonds in 1905, the weight of Exasian diamonds had always been the first (or second) in the world, and now it is in the fourth place. Exasian diamonds have disappeared in the eyes of the world for a long time, and only one of the 10 was displayed at the World's Fair in 1939.
The origin of the discovery of Exaxiu diamonds
On June 30, 1893, the Jaggs Fontaine diamond mine in the free state of Orange in South Africa was as busy as usual. A black miner was loading the car with a shovel when suddenly a light flashed under his feet, and a stone came into his eyes. He picked it up and saw that the stone was colourless and transparent, bright and slightly blue, shaped like a small piece of bread. The miner held down the ecstasy in his heart. He knew that it was probably a huge gem diamond. So he hid the foreman and personally handed over the rare treasure to the mine manager, hoping to get a huge reward. But he only got a horse, a saddle and a reward of £500.
The value and morphological characteristics of Axaxiu diamonds
The quality of Exar diamond is excellent. It is a colourless and transparent water diamond, which emits a faint blue fluorescence due to ultraviolet light sunlight, so it is slightly light blue. Until 1905, when the 3024.75-carat Culinan diamond was discovered, the weight of the Aixaho diamond had been the first in the world, and it was the second place until 2009, and now it is the fourth place.
In 1903, Henry, a jeweller, split the original stone of the Exarch diamond and cut it into 6 pear-shaped, 5 oval and 11 smaller round diamonds. They weighed from 69.7 carats to less than 1 carat, with a total weight of 37.5% of the original stone.
Due to the large number of impurities in Axaxiu diamonds, the total weight of the finished product is only 373.75 carats. The heaviest "Exaxiu No. 1" is also only 69.68 carats. In total, more than ten finished products weigh more than 10 carats.
